My husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last year May. The docter said he must stop using any alkohol eat correct food and drink his medication. He also said that the liver got damage that is why the sugar can't go down. The last month we saw that if he drink his medication his sugar drops. It's possible to control diabetes, but there is no cure. Sometimes they'll say it's in remission, but this is typically only after a significant weight loss. Go back to the same habits and it comes right back. Personally I think it would be better to consult with his doctor. You could also schedule an appointment for the next available date if he's insistent that he wants to come off the meds.
