Docs in the US get fewer "perks" than yoou might think. The ACE inhibitors (-prils) are recommended for hypertension in diabetics for protection against kidney damage which is very common diabetics with hypertension, and they cause a chronic cough in some people. Some doctors fear to stop them fearing lawsuits if the patient should develop kidney disease later. Frankly I changed any patient with the chronic cough. Above all if your doctor is not listening to you and answering your questions, GET ANOTHER DOCTOR. Those things are the job of a physician!

I just had liver and kidney scan done in December 2016 as all the numbers ran high and I was complaining two months before that about sharp pains and all in all they claim meds. for type two cause some of the damage. I researched the meds. and cut down my dosage and so far on the last test it looks better and all my numbers are pretty good and no more pain at all. Doctor did not want me to cut meds, down but it's my body and my life and I am not going on any machine!

Doctors get perks to promote new/certain drugs and as much as I would like to believe their advice is in your best interests, I often wonder.......

My doctor changed my blood pressure med. I was on for 14 years as I switched doctor's and when I asked why the reply was this one is better! Their was nothing wrong with blood pressure with the med. I was on so I start the new med. and got a chronic cough waking up everyone in the house all night and day so I called the doctor and was told to stay on it. I researched it and found some people can get the cough and once you stop taking the med. it can take up to six months for the cough to go away and some people will have the cough for life! This is what I hate so much about doctors as they know about it but don't say anything about it and it's not right. I was lucky as I got another doctor and new blood pressure med. with no side effects and my cough left after four months. If they don't want to listen to me and what I have to say and I am not always right but if they can't give you a reply or they say it's to complicated for you to understand then I don't need you for a doctor because that is not being a doctor and it is getting worse by the day and that's why a lot of people have no more trust in doctor's as they really don't care and when your gone they pick up four more to take your place it's like a DELI in the super market!
