I just increase my insulin for the time that I'm ill and make sure to check my glucose every hour or so or every time I wake up if i'm within the 3 hours of the time the humalog is active in my system i slidig scale figure out how much extra i could give to not go hypo and dose accordinly.

Watch what you take for your flu. Most cold and flu remedies have high sugar levels. Ask your pharmacist what you can take. If you are comfortable adjusting your insulin then do that but to go to 13.5 from normal sounds like a cough medicine. Don't worry about any high reading you get within 1-2 hours after taking medication - it's going to spike

hi don't know if it will help the flu but a friend of mine had his blood sugars rise to 22 his doctor suggested he drink some pure apple juice and he said it worked they are doing research in my country at the moment on somthing that is found in apples that helps reduce obeseity and diabetes.
