A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm a little confused,.... My monthly fasting glucose averages 100- 120. In those averages, I have numbers in the upper 80's, to a few excursions above 150..... most of the time between 90- 110. Some people say that those numbers are fantastic,.... some say it needs to be below 100 consistently. My first A1c right after being diagnosed was 11.6. The second (while still working on stabilizing medicine doses) was 6.6. I go back in Jan & will get the 3rd test. At current, I take the maximum daily… read more

Great start with an improved A1C. Just keep trying! When first diagnosed, I tested a lot in order to figure out what foods made my numbers spike. For me, I have to stay away from white foods: potatoes, rice, breaded meat, etc. By replacing those white foods with colored ones, my numbers improved!! I eat a lot of sweet potatoes, brown rice & eliminated breaded meats, except for a special treat. Try that & check often until you figure it out. I also cannot have as many carbs with each meal as what the guidelines said. Just keep trying!!

If A1C is 5 or less then yes you are doing GREAT for your control if a1c 7 or higher you still need to work on keeping your numbers in range outside of meal times because that is when it is spking the most and effecting your over all glucose control which is what is effecting your body over all. If your a1c is in the 6s there is still room for improvement to your over all glucose control
