I take Beyetta which also has to be injected up to one hour before eating. My educator told me to eat closer to the end of the hour to give it time to work. I take it with me if I go out to eat and use an empty pill container to carry the needles in.

I found this when I googled Lyxumia.
Lyxumia is administered once daily, within the hour prior to any meal of the day. It is preferable that the prandial injection of Lyxumia is performed before the same meal every day, when the most convenient meal has been chosen. If a dose of Lyxumia is missed, it should be injected within the hour prior to the next meal."

It doesn't say why it is dosed like this, however, I guess a regular time of day is helpful so that the action of the drug can be used to it's most effective timing. So, just pick a meal that is easy for you to inject before (probably breakfast), if you eat at home. It doesn't seem to matter which meal you chose though, just remember to do it. A good tip is to leave your kit near the place where you eat breakfast, so you actually have it right there as a reminder. Hope this medication works well for you. It is a fairly new one, to me at least, but they have a lot of these type of drugs available now for injection.
