Public Service Message For Residents Of Ontario, Alberta Or B.C. Canada
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Type 2 Diabetics that would like to take a shot at remission now have access to a Program - Doctor run and paid by provincial medicare if you live in B.C., Alberta or Ontario

(it was piloted in B.C. for the past couple of years, Alberta must have recently jumped on board and Ontario just started advertising it "today")

Much of the program is online (live/interactive video), but you are also paired with a local doctor who can facilitate the labs etc

Might be worth a look if you are interested

It's nine weeks with similar content to the above .I found it very interesting.

@DiabetesTeam users... Yes, it is real and most would say much needed. Alot of people leave the doc's office with little to no understanding about their diabetes, and no idea how to improve their blood glucose numbers. It seems that docs just can't address the topic of lifestyle, in only 15 minutes. Because of the growing obesity epidemic around the world, and the resulting increase in type 2 diabetes, many countries/states are creating and funding ways to fight this epidemic. A hospital near me offers exercise classes for free in their community center to help people become more active. It works-I started out taking all 3 (pilates, yoga, zumba) decided the others too much for me, but the yoga is just right and now it is an (almost) daily habit for me. I'm told this program is funded by the govt. Another program I enrolled in and completed last year was a DPP (diabetes prevention program). DPP programs are designed to help prevent pre-diabetics from becoming full Type 2's. I sometimes wonder about how this site (Diabetesteam) is funded; however, since people are allowed to post ultra-new ways of thinking about diabetes, which are also counter to some of the outdated views that exist in the medical community, I come here to learn and contribute. May I ask why this scares you?

Visit www.mydesmond.wales.( if this site lets you ). Desmond stands for diabetes education for self management of ongoing and newly diagnosed.
To sign up I had to give my NHS number
I emailed LifestylerX too- not available in UK but was invited to join their community site! Maybe soon.
